giorgio armani luminious silk foundation shade 7 review

Hello girls!

I’m back after almost 2 weeks thanks to a nasty nasty flu and fever virus. Honestly, I was so so weak I thought I was gonna just dieeee. Anyway, I’m finally fully recovered (not really) and back with a new camera!!!! Its my first DSLR and I got it second hand…(obviously because I need that extra money to keep buying make up now, don’t I. heh.) It’s really tricky to operate a DSLR and I’m slowly learning with the help of some kind friends.

Ok! Let’s get down to businesssss. Today, I’m reviewing the best liquid foundation I’ve ever tried, hands down. You need to know that I’m someone who completely detests liquid foundation. Since I was a little girl, I just couldn’t understand why a lady would ever want to put thick liquid on her face… the idea of it just seemed so gross. Still, I wanted to give it a shot so when I was 19 I tried my first few liquid foundations from drugstore brands which I hated and never tried again after my first application because it just broke me out like crazy and felt so uncomfortably sticky on my face.

Well, now that I’m much older and more open to try new make up since I set up this blog, I decided to get my hands on the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in shade 7.

Left: Completely bare faced and looking a bit sick still 😦 Horrible horrible virus. Right: After application of just one layer of Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation and MAC Prep and Prime Bright Forecast on my under eye area. (NO PHOTO EDIT)

What I like about it

♥ Medium coverage with just one pump which does not result in a cakey face

♥ Luminous finish as the name promises, definitely not matte but not dewy either

♥ My fourth time using it and it has not broke me out at all

♥ Lasts perfectly for about 6 hours under non-humid conditions

What I didn’t like

✘ Yesterday, I had this foundation on for about 10 hours… in the 9th hour, my boyfriend said that my face looked super oily – this is so strange because my face NEVER looks oily. I have super super dry skin on my face. I guess this foundation sort of melts away if you have it on for the whole day

✘ Like every other liquid foundation, taking this off your face definitely requires 3 steps –  make up remover, facial wash and then toner. Even after that there may be some residue left so I definitely recommend using your toner twice or thrice

Overall, I love this foundation a lot and definitely see myself wearing it it once or twice a week when I feel like looking pretty. However, I wont be wearing it out on days that I know I’ll be out for long… especially since Singapore is ever so humid.

Special Mention: MAC Prep and Prime Highlighter in Bright Forecast

Here’s a swatch to show you its salmon colour – perfect for colour correction. This is my first time I’m trying colour correction. My face has so many different colours – some parts are really pale whilst the eye area is super dark and sometimes I get pigmentation from exposure to the sun on my face too. Because of that, this salmon colour corrects the unevenness pretty well. Definitely HG status for me! Only downside is that I don’t quite find it opaque enough so I have to put another layer of concealer on top of that.

…aaand a silly face with all my make up done and I’m ready to get out of the door!

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you get the drift about just how beautiful this foundation can make you feel and look! *puts away all of my powder foundations*

  1. I’ve heard that the Luminous Silk does tend to look oily after a long time. But it’s really good the first couple of hours of wear! Great post, girl! 🙂
