*NEW* YSL Fusion Ink Cushion Foundation

Beauty, Makeup

YSL fushion ink cushion foundation review

Hi my lovelies!

YSL caught up with the #cushionfever and its new product was actually launched in Singapore! Such a rare moment for Singaporean beauty lovers really. We always are one of the last people on earth to get our hands on popular beauty products (e.g. Sephora in Singapore does not carry Kat Von D, we haven’t had the new Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bon palette… heck, we haven’t even gotten the Too Faced Hangover Primer which launched in US a year ago)

Grumblings aside, I was so excited about getting my hands on this beauty that I just had to make a video on it.

THIS PACKAGING IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BEAUTY PRODUCT PACKAGING I’VE SEEN IN MY WHOLE LIFE. Whilst the product itself didn’t blow me away, honestly I love the packaging so much that I want to carry it in my bag forever and always.

I’ll do a quick write-up on how the product fared, but if you want to see how it looks like and a deeper insight on the product, then just click ‘play’on the video and support me!

  • super pigmented – so it easily covers up blemishes
  • a little product goes a loooong way
  • dewy and fresh finish that looks great for up to 6 hours
  • easy to touch up since it’s so portable

  • only 6 shades in total
  • products makes your face super oily after 6 hours
  • it *may* have caused my face to break out a tiny bit

3 YSL Lip Products Totally Worth Trying

Beauty, Makeup

Hola chicas!

I’m so excited to be back with a beauty post featuring my top makeup brand ever – Yves Saint Laurent Beaute. I love that YSL never shortchanges on quality of the product itself and elegance in its packaging. Whilst I do love their regular lipsticks, I don’t find them different compared to lipsticks from other brands. What does appeal to me, however, is YSL’s unique range of lip products other than its regular classic lippies. Here are 3 YSL lip products I recommend trying if you have not already!

Volupte Tint-In-Oil (No. 5)

Volupte Tint-In-Oil review no 5

Volupte Tint-In-Oil review shade 5

This oil based lip product is YSL’s latest addition in their range of lip products. Shade is the deepest colour they have and in my opinion, it has the most colour pay-off. The rest of the shades are more of a transparent gloss. I apologize for my uneven skin tone in the pictures above because I had no make up on my face yet (I was too lazy to put on powder/ foundation).

Beautiful colour that adjusts itself based on your skintone comes through after you allow the product to settle on your lips for a few minutes

Gloss shine holds on well for more than 2 hours until you drink/ eat something (Intense shine starts to wear off after an hour, but gloss will remain)

♥ Even after the gloss completely wears off after about 4 hours, your lips will be left with a pretty stain

♥ Highly moisturizing – this product leaves your lips supple even after washing. It seems to have the effect of a lip treatment.

♥ Similar to all lip applicators YSL lip products come with, the applicator makes application so very easy. No need for any lip liner whatsoever.

Rouge Pur Couture Vernis A Levres (Shade 12)

YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis A Levres review 12

Rouge Pur Couture Vernis A Levres shade 12 YSL review

This lip gloss comes with higher colour pay off as compared to the lip tint. It is slightly less glossy though. I find that this lip gloss does not stay on as well as the lip tint.. this product does leave a pretty stain but it’s completely gone from your lips under 4 hours. I’m not complaining though because reapplication is no hassle.

♥ Gloss holds on for about an hour, coloured stain lasts for 4 hours max

♥ Lightweight, yet the colour is opaque

♥ It has a right balance of gloss and colour and can be worn with a bare face…just for the purpose to introducing some colour to your face on a lazy day at work

YSL Babydoll Kiss and Blush (Shade 11)

YSL Babydoll Kiss and Blush 11 review

YSL Babydoll Kiss and Blush cheeks 11 review

I had been wanting to try this product for agessssss. I bought this as presents for so many people but never got down to purchasing one for myself! A dual lip and cheek product is no novelty, but YSL’s take on it definitely stands out when compared to other brands. YSL comes with a unique selection of colours and the quality of the stains definitely come across superior to other brands.

♥ Super blendable, making it a dream to use as a blush. You could easily use your fingers or a brush to blend it out. A little goes a long way.

♥ The texture of this thing is divine. It goes on your lips like butter.

♥ Upon application of lips, it does have a tiny bit of shine but it dries to become completely matte after about 30 mins. Colour stays on for hours and hours. This baby could be on your lips for more than 6 hours if you aren’t eating like a barbarian.

When you use this product on both your lips and your cheeks, the colour coordination makes your makeup appear to be really put together even if you spent less than 5 minutes dolling up. E.g. from my selfie above, it really looks like I spent an entire afternoon getting my facecake on –  but if you look closer, I have no mascara on, no eyeshadow on, and not even foundation on. All I used was this YSL Kiss and Blush product, concealer and an eyeliner – Just three products to look like you’re ready for a date with the man of your dreams.

So, okay, let’s get real. YSL beaute products are really really pricey. If there was one product out of these 3 products that I think you should get ASAP, it would be the Volupte Tint-In-Oil. I feel that it is the most innovative product out of the lot and it will definitely wow you once you try it on.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed preparing it for you!

Empties Post #1

Beauty, Makeup, Scents, Skincare

Hey ladies!

I’m super exhausted from work so I have been procrastinating this post for such a long time now. It’s my first empties post! I love reading other bloggers’ empties posts because that’s how I find out what the classics are in the beauty scene. Here goes my input!

1. They’re Real! Macara by Benefit

benefit they're real mascara review

I didn’t like this at all. I used it maybe about 5 times in total and it didn’t wow me so I left it aside and after 1 or 2 months it was just toooo dry to be used. I don’t its clumpy formula and how it doesn’t seem to separate my lashes to define them well. It’s also a pain to wash off. I just have so many other better mascaras and for its heavy price tag, I can confidently tell you that this is my worst mascara purchase ever.

Repurchase? Hell to the no.

2. YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch

YSL touche eclat Radiant Touch concealer review

This is my third tube because I bought it in a set of 3. I like this a lot because I think it does a decent job at both concealing and highlighting. I wish I didn’t purchase the darkest shade though because I think I should have gotten 1 shade down for it to be a better highlighter. I love how easy it is to use with a button on the top of it and the little brush applicator. It’s just mess free and does the job well. Only downside is that it doesn’t conceal dark circles completely but that’s okay because I adore a slightly imperfect look.

Repurchase? Yes, but in a lighter shade and not now because I have other concealers and highlights so yup maybe a couple of months down the road.

3. Majolica Majorca Lash Expander by Shiesedo

Shiseido Majolica Majorca Lash Expander review

I got this as a free gift from a blogger event and well it just wasn’t my thaaang. I mean, the formula is decent but a little too wet for my liking. It does what it claims – my lashes are definitely visibly much longer with this…but the problem is my natural lashes are already very long so this mascara just makes it freakishly long which I don’t like. I prefer volumizing mascaras. Also, I did not fancy its mascara wand because it looks like a comb? Its like a plastic little comb. So weird – its impossible to achieve volume with a flat plastic comb.

Repurchase? Not for me. But I do recommend it if you wish to lengthen your lashes.

4. Miss Dior Eau de Parfum

Miss Dior Eau De Parfum Review

My boyfriend got this for my birthday two years ago and I cherished it so much that I only used it for important occasions… that’s how it lasted for two years. I like its scent but I definitely prefer Chanel’s Mademoiselle to this. I only tried Mademoiselle once at my sister’s place and I fell in love with it instantaneously. I feel like Mademoiselle has this unforgettable lovely scent while Miss Dior is more of just a pleasant smell with little magic (when compared to its rival).

Repurchase? I never spend more than a 100 bucks on a perfume for myself. These kind of luxury perfumes are always gifts and well I’m hoping to receive Mademoiselle one day soon! I am definitely keeping the Miss Dior empty perfume bottle forever though because its too gorgeous.

5. Body Shop Vanilla Brulee Butter

OH MY GARD I LOVE THIS BODY BUTTER SO MUCH ITS NUTS. This is the best body butter I’ve had from Body Shop. I got it as a Vanilla Brulee set from my bestie for my birthday – comes with the lip gloss and body shop too. Its smell is divine… like creme brulee really. I love slathering on every night before I sleep – it just makes me happy and well moisturized. Usually I get really upset with Body Shop butters because its smell can be overwhelming to the extent that I get a headache. But with this particular Vanilla Brulee edition, I find its scent just a right balance of soothing and fresh.

Repurchase? Definitely. Sadly, its a limited edition so I’m not sure when its gonna be selling again. I can’t wait to try the lip gloss that comes with it too!

6. Shu Uemura Oil Cleansers

shu uemura anti oxi skin refining anti dullness cleansing oil review shu uemura skin purifier whitefficient cleansing oil review

I have 2 bottles that I switch up whenever I feel like it. One’s an anti-dullness effect and the other one is supposed to be of a whitening effect…but I cant really tell the difference in results when I use either. I guess the whitening doesn’t hurt my eyes as badly as the anti-dullness one. I used to be crazy over these oil cleansers due to the crazy hype surrounding them. However, since I discovered how magically well extra virgin coconut oil removes my makeup, I find that the Shu Uemura Oil Cleanser really pales in comparison.

Repurchase? Maybe… I do feel that coconut oil does a slightly better job and is a cheaper alternative. At the same time, I feel the Shu Uemura cleanser does a faster job than coconut oil cause it takes me a long long time to get coconut oil completely off my face.

7. Bobbi Brown Long Wearing Gel Eyeliner in Black

Bobbi Brown Long wearing Gel eyeliner review

I love this. I used to wear it almost every day or every other day until it completely dried out even though I have 40% of product left in its little glass pot. This product is hella expensive and having so much dried product is really a huge disappointment. It does a lovely job at giving me long wearing perfect simple eyeliner looks though. I used to just put this one as a fuss free and 10 seconds eye enhancer and just some light powder and walk out the door. You do need a really good eyeliner brush to give you the right kind of look though.

Repurchase? I’m currently trying out a few other eyeliners…it they don’t do as a good job, yes, I probably would have to repurchase.

8. Shu Uemura Point Cealer Concealer

shu uemura point cealer concealer review

Someone recommended this to me and it didn’t disappoint. It does cover blemishes beautifully and its not obvious at all that theres any concealer on. The magic probably lies in its creamy formula as compared to other concealers that tend to be more liquidy than creamy. The only issue is that the product given is soooo little. If you use it on a daily basis it would probably be out in 1 month. It is way overpriced for the amount given.

Repurchase? I’m trying out other drugstore concealers which work great too and I don’t think this Shu Uemura product is worth the splurge anymore. I’m going to try NARS concealer soon and if its better than this I’ll definitely be making a quick switch.

Hope this post was provided you ladies with sufficient information for your make up research! As always, thanks for reading!

YSL Makeover Review

Beauty, Makeup, Skincare

Hey girls!

I had my first ever cosmetic makeover today at YSL (ION Orchard). It was a pretty cool experience just sitting at the vanity table and having someone to massage my face with top notch skincare lotions and then making my face all pretty and glowy!

Before the makeover…

And after!

1. YSL Top Secrets: Toning & Cleansing Micellar Water (light blue bottle, pictured above)

I never heard of this particular cleanser before – so I wasn’t expecting much… but boy did it impress me. Not only did it remove my sunscreen and powder in one wipe, but it also left my skin feeling refreshed with a comforting fragrance – as if I just had a facial wash. I would definitely consider purchasing this once my current cleansers run out. It is also affordable compared to other cleanser competitors – this YSL Top Secrets Cleanser is retailing for only SGD 63!

4.5 stars

2. Forever Youth Liberator range: (from left) Lotion, Eye Zone Serum and Eye Creme

This entire youth range intimidates me, if I have to be fully honest. There were 2 other products from this range that the makeup artiste put on my face that I did not take a picture of… there were some kind of Y-shape lotion and creme that is meant to prevent sagging of facial skin. I try to keep away from such anti-aging products as I intend to only start on such products when I turn 30.

However, I am hooked on YSL Facial Serum that I reviewed before here. It reverses all of my abrupt pimple breakouts. I love it – its definitely the best product in the entire range.

1. Valentine’s Day/ Chinese New Year Limited Edition Eyeshadow

IMG_0613IMG_0614 photo(1)

This eyeshadow combi is perfect for an everyday smokey eye look! Its a bonus that it comes in uber cute packaging. This set also comes with instructions which makes it really easy to put on by yourself and so easy to carry around. Since its limited edition, it does come with a rather heavy price tag – SGD 93 for this baby. But if you ask me, its worth the purchase – highly pigmented and lasted me the whole day with a flawless finish.

4.5 stars

2. Le Teint Encre de Peau Liquid Foundation SPF 19

Love love love – YSL’s latest product. This is probably the first liquid foundation I’ve tried that I actually like. It blends in well with a brush and has a matt finish that makes it look as if I’m not wearing any make up at all. Overall, it brightens up the face effortlessly and erases any trace of fatigue instantly. My only problem with this is that it can stain clothes because its highly pigmented and also it requires a brush for proper application – I’m much too lazy to whip out a brush so I’ll stick to my YSL compact powder instead. I’d definitely like to have this on my face for more special occasions though!

3.5 stars

3. YSL Babydoll Kiss and Blush Lip & Cheeks

I used number 12 (nude) on my lips and number 4 (orangey pink) on my cheeks.

I have purchased this as gifts for friends, but I’ve never tried it on myself. I loved it. Personally, I feel it works better on the cheeks – its long lasting and dewy as a blusher and requires only a few dabs for a beautiful glow. As a lip gloss, its completely gone after a meal with no trace of it left. I would definitely purchase this – but only as an awesome blusher (maybe for the lips if I suddenly decide to take a selfie. hahaha)

4.5 stars

The amazing woman who created magic on my face! Her name is Zona Wah and she’s a senior makeup artist in YSL. You should definitely book your makeover with her if you have a fancy date coming up – no regrets fo sure.

Look at this awesome set of professional YSL brushes she used on my face! I truly felt like a little princess.

Wondering how I got this complimentary makeover? All you have to do is to spend above SGD 200 and you will get to redeem it! You also will get a YSL membership that entitles you to birthday makeovers and other awesome promotions. Trust me, in YSL, your 200 bucks will definitely be more than well spent.

P.S. Special credit to my awesome partner who sat through the entire 1 hour makeup session despite his exhaustion! Love you to the moon and back, M 🙂 ❤

YSL Trial Set (Full Review)

Beauty, Makeup, Skincare

Buenas Noches, Senoritas!

Here’s my YSL cosmetics review post which I promised 2 days ago (when my little blog was born! – yes I’m only 2 days old, please be kind!)

Last Christmas, I went a bit crazy doing some last minute festive shopping at YSL cosmetics and ended up getting a complimentary trial set! Hurray! It was a 5 piece trial set consisting of the following products in travel size:

  • Dessin Du Regard Eye Pencil in number 1 (black)
  • Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils
  • Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in number 1 (signature red)
  • Forever Light Creator Serum
  • Le Teint Touche Eclat illuminating Foundation SPF 19 (I gave this away, so no review for this, sorry!)

Read on if you wish to see pictures of the finished looks and reviews of each product!

YSL review full face

1. Dessin Du Regard Eye Pencil in number 1 (black)

  • highly pigmented
  • easy to glide on
  • long lasting
  • waterproof
  • good for smokey eye kinda look

  • too smudgey (if there’s such a word)
  • too messy
  • not for beginners, definitely
  • not easy to sharpen as the lead keeps dropping off since its too creamy

photo 3

(swatch of the eyeliner, you can see from this that it’s really creamy and pigmented – double edged sword, really)

Despite the many good reviews on this product, I reeeeeally did not like this – let me tell you why. It was wayy too creamy such that it was too easy to make mistakes with this pencil. I used this about 4 times already and all 4 times I had to redo it because the result was not a clean one. Too messy.

3 stars

2. Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils

photo 2

(without filter)

  • beautiful, luxurious finish – clear difference from drugstore brands, imo
  • gives a fuller, thicker and longer look to your eyelashes all at once
  • super long lasting
  • I don’t think its stated as waterproof, but it definitely doesn’t smudge

  • not easy to remove, even with my shu uemura oil cleanser
  • it does provide curl, but there are other mascaras that could provide better curl.. this isn’t much of a problem though if you use an eyelash curler (which I don’t)

I. LOVE. IT. Honestly, this is probably the best mascara I’ve used in the past years. I love how it makes my eyelashes look… luxurious. Luxurious is really the word. I would really like to try Babydoll by YSL to compare the difference though!

5 stars

3. Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in number 1 (signature red)

photo 1

(without filter)

  • Supaaaaaaaaaa pigmented, redder than red
  • results in an illusion of thicker, sexier lips
  • long lasting
  • creamy – easy to glide on, the colour perfect after just 1 glide!
  • adds a touch of glam to any outfit
  • does not leave lips feeling dry

  • I’m not really used to this colour… not confident enough to pull off such a striking colour in public!
  • no stated SPF or nourishing properties stated for this product

Perfect for a special occasion, I would think this shade would look stunning on any skin colour and make you look good even in a potato sack.

4 stars

4. Forever Light Creator Serum

  • absorbs easily into skin due to its light watery texture
  • visible difference in skin tone after a few days of daily application
  • dark spots lightened
  • skin appears more radiant without makeup

  • no hydrating effects
  • the full bottle is pricey – from what I recall its about 80 plus for a small bottle
  • I really don’t think you should put it on a daily basis as it will dry your skin out – esp if you do not apply moisturizer religiously

I have  a love-hate relationship with this product. I know for sure that it has visible positive effects for my skin, but at the same time I can feel that its drying my skin too. Because of this, I use this before bed only 2-4 times a week to prevent over-reliance. Don’t think I will purchase the full bottle when my travel sized bottle retires… unless for some reason I really miss seeing my skin radiant without makeup… which probably means yes I might have to purchase it. #firstworldproblems

3 stars

Well, I guess that’s it! Do drop a comment if you own any of these products, would love to know what you think!
